 this in the devx so when you use getflash without the dexv installed you dont get current installed version of flashplayer
edit (edit: this looks to be the strings pet http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko14/strings_sfdisk-2.2.1.pet havent tested it without the devx yet)

        stat, strings, stty, su, sulogin, sum, sv, svlogd, swapoff, swapon,

It is also a busybox applet - if BB configured to have strings .
strings binary should come normally with the devx .
Make sure you don't corrupt /bin/busybox while installing strings .
Simple cp would follow an existing strings link to BB and replace BB with the strings binary .

As a workaround - but BB is pretty good in many regards - just do a
ln -s busybox /bin/strings
.
